pyramid.jpg (27057 bytes)Hunters Tent, or Pyramid Tent

Pyramid tents were used during and after the fur trade era. Rufus Sage used one in 1841 when he was traveling along the Laramie on his way to Fort Platte. Francis Parkman's Party used one in 1846 and other references support evidence that the pyramid tent was in use as early as 1820. Sizes ranged from 7'x7'x7' to 15'x15'x9'6". Today the pyramid style tent is experiencing a renewed popularity because of the spaace efficiency, ease of setup, and low requirements for poles. This version has been modeled after original sizes but more reinforcing has been added. All tents come with a sod cloth.

SETUP This tent gives you the flexibility of three different setup possibilities. For a one pole setup: simply place the pole inside the tent, propping up the middle. In the two pole set-up you just tie the peak of the tent to the point where the guy wires or ropes are seeded for setup. For setting up with no poles, you must tie a rope to the loop at the peak and throw the rope over a tree limb and tie it off.

THE DOOR The standard door has overlap facings that tie inside and out and a 14" tall facing along the bottom. We do offer a tipi style (oval cut) door opening with a double thick roll up cover flap. The flap is sewn above the door and ties closed or open. It has sleeves just like our tipi door cover so you can use dowels or willow branches to make it lay flat. We strongly recommend the extra door for your tent. It provides ventilation for those hot summer days, and believe me, that can make all the difference in the world!

STOVE HOLE INSERT These come with tie downs and roll-up cover flap. Specify size of hole (3", 4", 5", or 6") and location. If no location is specified we"ll give you a 4" hole on one of your side walls.

FLYS You may wish to add a fly to your hunter's tent. They are great for covering your entry way from rain and for a sun/rain canopy to sit under. Our flys are sold separately. The ties are made to tie on under a flap that is on your tent. Because your hunter's tent will already have this flap over each door, you can add a fly at any time after purchasing your tent! Below are the specifications for the hunter's tent flys:
