Worn on most military
hats and caps, the colors varied by nationality or special units. The British enlisted men
wore black, and the French , white. Some Germans displayed green. The colonists adapted
England's black but added a white rosette in 1780 to mark the French Alliance. The
officers used various colors to identify rank. We offer two styles, round or square. Tell
